Happy New Year!

To celebrate the New Year I plan to not:

1. Stay up until midnight. - We will be leaving early tomorrow morning for Grandma and Grandpa P's house in Texas, and I want to be well rested.

2. Eat black-eyed peas. - I've heard vicious rumors that this is a tradition that's supposed to bring luck, but as Art says, "I'll just do without that extra bit of luck."

3. Make New Year's Resolutions. - Why set myself up for failure, honestly?

Hope the rest of you celebrate well and find real joy in the New Year.

Yeah, I won't be having black eyed peas either. Our family tradition is ham (because pigs root only going forward) and sauerkraut. I think the sauerkraut or cabbage represents money.

Have a blessed new year!

Well, we will certainly be having black-eyed peas. (Although only your father truly enjoys them) It's the one day when we concede to his favorite vegetable, I guess. Usually, he cooks them himself on days when he knows I won't be home for dinner. Besides that, I think maybe salmon or tuna cakes. (This family has had way too much ham over the holidays; I feel like a porker myself)And I'll be grading semester tests again today. I'm only about half through.

Hope your trip to Texas is uneventful....well un-bad-eventful but very good-eventful.

I have no idea what Black-eyed peas taste like, so I guess I can't say I would never try them. However, for the time being, I have no intention of ever going out of my way to try them.

My new years resolution is to go out to eat at a new restaurant every month in 2008. How could I not stick to that one?

Well, we did not partake in any black-eyed peas this year. Usually it is a New Year's table staple. This year we had a meet, and greet reception for our new Pastor. Not a pea in sight. Dear spouse says they are actually beans, are they?
