Stepping solo

My husband headed to California today. He'll be back Friday evening, but that seems so far away. I don't handle being on my own very well. I'm very high maintenance. By the end of the day my kids are driving me crazy, the house is falling apart, and I've neared the end of my very short rope. My DH is my sanity.

At least I know he'll be back soon. It gives me a very, very small taste of what so many wives go through all the time. I can't imagine sending my husband off to war, or away to an oil field for months. I know God has a special blessing for any woman who is parenting on her own. I hope I get a tiny little share of that blessing this week. I'm going to need it.

You will do fine! My husband use to work on a rig so he was in seven and out seven.. it was hard but it was even harder when he was in because it was like vacation for him and the kids... Now he is home more he works nights though but it really much easier. I still sometimes feel I mostly do most of the parenting but he does do his half most definitely.... like going to lunch with the kidos, meetings at school, picking up sick children, and lots of other stuff that I can do but really helps me out if he does them especially right now since one of our employees is out on maternity leave and well were are kind short handed... no matter what the situation... theres always a blessing in it the trick is we just have to be able to see it. Good luck!

You were right. God is helping me to find the blessings. Thanks for your encouragement. It sounds like you're a strong wife and mother.

Without being a downer, may I say that the stresses and responsibilities only increase as the kids age or more are born? The good news is that your capacity to cope usually--yes, usually--increases simultaneously. When it doesn't, your body sends you major warning signs that the bridge is out just ahead...ha!
