Thursday Thirteen #10

13 Reasons my generation gets their news from the internet.

1. You can check the news any time you want, not at 4,5 and 9.

2. You can go directly to websites that have the kind of news you're interested in reading.

3. You don't have to watch/read the stories you couldn't care less about. (ie The water main break in Big City that doesn't affect you in the slightest)

4. No commercials. Car ads make me want to scream.

5. No unrealistic anchors. They also make me want to scream. Who are they kidding?

6. I can choose how much "human interest" I'm up for on any given day.

7. No one is trying to pretend they're interested in my life and concerns. Again I say, "Who are they kidding?"

8. The OJ trial. I know I sure got tired of that one.

9. My toddlers don't need to hear about all the horror and blood.

10. Whenever I turn on the TV it reminds my kids that they would like to watch videos or play video games and I either have to give in or keep saying, "NO".

11. I can see video of the serial killer they just caught, or not, as I choose.

12. No one is promising me that the weather, which is all I'm probably watching for anyway, will be on "next".

13. News search engines. If you know what you want, they can't be beat.

Terrific list! I get all my news from the internet as well, for many of the same reasons you list. Plus, my husband and I are currently living in Germany, so if we want the news from back home in Canada, the internet is the best place to get it.

I hope all goes well with your son's surgery on Friday morning.

I am in total agreement with you. We have not watched tele in years. Any new we get we pick and choose via the internet. It is good to know there are people out there like me.
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
My TT is posted.
Have a wonderful day!
Happy TT'ing!

Not just your generation. I've avoided tv for years... I still do read the newspaper, but not nearly as often as I used to. We are praying too, for Zaya and Mimsy.

I couldn't agree with your list more.

Picking and choosing what articles interest you are great, though I still on occasion watch the news.

Great TT!

I agree, it's easy to find reputable news sources on the internet, at OUR convenience.

Praying for everyone and the surgery situation...

Oh, there are ads on Internet news sites, it's just easier to tune them out or close the pop-up windows ;)

Great list Babystepper! I'll be praying for the little fellow that he recovers quickly and that your little girl has a blast with G'ma and that your worries are minimal.
