Fall Fun

When the kids and I were outside "Widing Twikles" (That's riding tricycles, for the uninitiated.) our neighbor boy, Carl, asked the kids if they wanted to come jump in the leaf pile he had raked. They did and made all sorts of fun discoveries, like casings from dead bugs with pincers the exact distance of a small boy's nose . Mmm. Lovely.

Just so you know that he really didn't mind that...thing...being there, here's a picture from the same time. I just like the first one best because of those big ol' baby blues.

Okay he's braver than I am. Don't think I could stand still enough for a picture with that thing on my nose. Shiver.

Too much fun on a Fall day! It's great when kids are still full of wide eyed wonderment at the sight of an insect, instead of screaming like loonies. (like my girls)

I think my son has been hanging around me too much. He screams when he sees crickets!

Heh heh heh

I actually called Attolia to let her know what to expect when she checks your blog, lol! She just hates those things.

Who are we kidding? If THAT thing were on MY nose, I'd be doing a pretty frantic little jig myself.

(And I love his baby blues too.) :-)

Well, then, it is settled. He is all boy.
And I think his baby blues are cute, too.

If that's what I think it is, we used to call them locusts, but that's probably the wrong name, they aren't dead bugs but the shell that the bug grew out of. Like finding a snake skin where the snake has molted or whatever you call it and moved on.

They cling easily to a kid's nose. I hate bugs, but those things never scared even a whiner like me.

More good times.
